Mailbox Monday

I had a really great mail week this past week! A lovely new-to-me blogger, Brooke, offered to send me her ARC of Sea Lord by Virginia Kantra. I have really enjoyed this series. I haven't read too many books that are based around the Selkies and I think Ms. Kantra did a really great job creating a lovely and original series with The Children of the Sea books.

I bought White Star last week and I had to order Dagger-Star and it arrived on Friday. I had looked into her war trilogy a while ago but passed because they were in first person. I think I made a mistake though. First person or not, I think they might be one trilogy I shouldn't have judged. But I do plan on reading them now.

I also got some goodies from Pati Nagle! A small calander, bookmark, and post card, all featuring that beautiful cover. I also received a coverflat from Amanda McIntyre for her future book, well it's an anthology with two other authors that I'm really psyched about reading, Winter's Desire. Another awesome cover! And then from my dear friend Anna, always feeding my appetite for author goodies, sent me some more awesomely cool stuff. Like a signed coverflat of Eve Silver's His Wicked Sins!! Oh man, I just love her historicals!

What about you? Did you get anything in the mail this past week?

Hi, Blodeuedd,

Oh yes, the covers to Virgina Kantra's Children of the Sea are just amazing. I love the colors. And the story inisde happens to be pretty darn good too :). It's taking me a while to read Sea Lord but I think that's becasue my son has been on Spring bread this past week, so not a lot of time to read.
I'm really looking forward to reading Dagger-Star. Oh, I did get one other book last week, Clockwork Heart. It's Steam Punk. I've not read anything in that genre but plan on reading it next!

Hey Amy:

You did have an awesome week!

I made a trip to one of my favorite places "the bookstore" on Friday and got 3 books.

"Passion" by Passion by Lisa Valdez; Night's Rose by Annaliese Evans and "Immortal Danger", by Cynthia Eden. :) So the TBR is not tumbling off the shelf again! I also fed my e-book, not that it needed it. lol

Great post Amy!
Enjoy your reads.
Warm Regards
L

I have heard great things about Virginia Kantra's series. I definitely have to check it out. I received in the mail last week Magic Strikes - Ilona Andrews, Blood Magic - Jennifer Lyon, Bitten - Kelly Armstrong, and Claiming the Courtesan - Anna Campbell. I love the Magic series so I think that one is next:)

Amy C said...

Hi Lea :),

You got some good books too. I've had Passion in my wishlist for so long I forget sometimes that it's not actually on my TBR shelf! One of these days I need to order. KristieJ did a post a while ago about this book and some controversy with the author, but I still never ordered the book. I've looked at that Cynthia Eden book. And I really hope you like Night's Rose. Anna just finished it and said she really liked it! Maybe even top 20 for her!!

Hi Mandi :),

I've seen that Ilona Andrews book around alot. I hope you like it. It seems to have good feedback. I have an Anna Campbell book on the TBR shelf, Untouched. I love the cover, it's the green!

Virgina Kantra's Children of the Sea series is really great. She has a nice writing style and her stories progress quickly. I like that.

The cover for Winter's Desire looks very scandalous with half boobies being shown. :P

Amy C said...

Yes, Katie! It's the boobies that first caught my eye! LOL. They're so round and perky!

Blodeuedd said...

The boobies talk had me check out that cover again, and yes, I don't think I would be comfortable with a cleavage like that...well in private ;)

About Sea Lords, can't remember if he was a selkie, or some sea creature, but still it sounds refreshing. I am waiting to see waht you think :)

On the Warland Chronicles: you really should read them. Really.

You got a nice haul over the week, congratulations!

I had a really good mail box week myself  I got Mary Balogh's Then Comes Seduction through a giveaway at TGTBTU, and Jori Strong's Ghostland through another one at Kmont's

Blodeuedd, Conn (the hero in Sea Lord) is the prince (king) of the Selkies! He makes his first appearance in the short story in the anthology Shifters. Sea Lord is tying together the events that started in Sea Witch and carried into Sea Fever. I'm not finished yet, but I'm hoping that this is only a trilogy. I would like to see things all come together in this one. I'll post my thoughts when I finish :).

Amy C said...

Hey azteclady :)

I have looked into Ghostland a few times. I haven't read anything by Jory Strong. I don't really know anything about her writing. The title is appealing. I think I'll look into it again. Congrats on winning it!

And thank you for the link to your review of Warprize! It was very well done! I have seen wonderful feedback to this series and am getting more and more excited to read something of Elizabeth's soon. It sucks that Warprize is out of print. I'll have to order it used.

Hi Amy!

Wow! What a haul! Don't you just love opening the mailbox and finding presents instead of bills?

Children of the Sea sounds really interesting and the covers sure look beautiful. I'll have to check them out.

Dottie :)

I did my mailbox post early in the week, because so many came at one time.

But after that I got a few more. I picked up Patricia Brigg's Raven's Shadow and Julia Quinn's Splendid and Lady Whistledown Strikes Back arrived from PBS. Should get Jade Lee's Dragonborn sometime this week.

Amy C said...

Hey Anna :),

I can't wait to see what you think of Dragonborn! I'm sure you'll like it :).

Amy, go back and buy the war trilogy! It's great, even if it's written in the first person pov. Actually, the Star trilogy is just so-so in comparison!

Hi Amy!
Last week I received an ARC of Sabrina Jefferies upcoming novel, Don't Bargain With the Devil that releases in late May. Besides bills, that's the only fun thing I got in my mailbox.

Happy reading! :)

Amy C said...

I'll take an ARC...any ARC...over a bill anyday! That's awesome, Christine. I've never read anything by Sabrina Jefferies.

Nath, I just ordered a copy of Warprize from half.com and the lovely Renee is sending me her copy of the second book! Now I just gotta get the third one :).
It's so great to see some of you have read this series and like it!

Great haul AmyC! I have the Sea Children series too and I've heard such wonderful things about it. What first drew me was the covers, they're amazing.

Ooh, lovely books! Unfortunately, I'm on book-buying lockdown until payday. However, I can't complain, since my tbr needs to be read from anyway.
