Lori Foster's Get Together Part 1

I don't even know where to begin! I think I'm going to do two posts, one for the authors and one for bloggers and friends I met. I 'll post that one tomorrow! My mom and I had such a wonderful time. It was so nice meeting new people as well as seeing some that we've already met, both authors and readers. I have some things to giveaway over the next several weeks (Lora leigh, Joey W. Hill, and some hunky Julian Fantechi goodies! And some other things) I have quite a few pictures! I'll add a new slide show and just post a few here. It was a great time.

My first author encounter was with the wonderful and super nice Vivian Arend! I'm so glad I picked her name off the long list of authors that were attending a few months ago. I wanted to read a few of the e-published authors and she was at the top of the list and her book Wolf Signs sounded great. We sat with her and a few of her friends, among them was the very talented Valerie Tibbs! She did my blog header! I discovered a few other e-published authors I am going to read. All of them were so nice and they all have a joint blog, International Heat. I just picked up Vivian's new book that released today, Soul Deep, as well as one of the other auhtors of International Heat, Rhian Cahill's One Night in Bangkok! Rhian has the coolest austrailian accent!
(Vivian Arend, Me, Valerie Tibbs)

And then, while I was sitting there talking with them Friday night I kept looking around to see if I could spot Sue-Ellen Welfonder. I kept looking and looking. And then I saw a lady that I thought was her. Finally I got up and walked over to her and bent down to look at her name tag, because you know, I don't wnat to make an ass of myself thinking she is her but it's not really her. Sometimes people look different in pictures than they do in person. BUT it was her! She saw me and knew who I was. It was just so wonderful to see how excited she was to see ME!! We talked with Sue-Ellen for a bit. I would like to have spent some more time with her, but I am happy with the memories I do have! She is such a wonderfully nice lady.

The lovely Anne Rainey. She's just awesome! I must read more of her books :).
Beth Kery and Julie James accommodated me very graciously with a surprise I thought to do for a fellow friend. They are two awesome ladies! Thank you both very very much :).
This is the third time I've been lucky enough to see Lora Leigh and Lorie O'Clare! They both are super nice and I might have some surprises in the future with them! I'm afraid to say anything and jinx it!! :P So my lips are sealed.
My mom and I sat with Lisa Cooke and her husband and a couple other fans for awhile on Saturday. Her first book released in April, Texas Hold Him. What a fun book! I thought it was great and will be sure to pick up her next book in February 2010, A Midwife Crisis.
Donna MacMeans is one lady I am so glad I met! She is another of those amazing people to talk with. Without gatherings like this I never would have known about her. She's a fun lady, her and her rooster!
I hope to do this one again another year. Alot of the same people attend every year, so it'll be nice to see some of the same ladies! Although the next time me and my mom go, my mom must keep better track of her credit cards! She lost her bank card! Sunday morning when we were checking out, she was looking for it and it wasn't in her purse! We think when we bought some books at the B&N book sellers she was never handed back her card. It was the only time she used it. And with all the commotion it slipped her mind whether or not it was handed back to her. She got it taken care of, called the bank and had it cancelled right away. But it kinda got us sidetracked, we missed having breakfast with a friend, Jen, before we took off. We just wanted to go home. I'll tell you all about Jen and Susan and Stacy and Kati tomorrow and share some pictures too!

Stay tuned, later today I'll try to post a giveaway!

Hey Julie, yeah that does suck with my mom and her card, but luckily she was able to have the nice lade at the front desk search the internet for a number so she could report it lost.

Thank you, Beth and Julie for helping me out! You guys are awesome :).

Amy, it was so great to finally meet you in person. I think this year's Get Together was the best one yet. I hate I didn't get to have breakfast with you and Sally Sunday morning but there's always next year.

I hate to hear that about Sally's bank card but I'm glad she got it taken care of quickly.

I hope yall get to come back next year.

Oh, btw, did you happen to take a picture of that cover model at the book signing on Saturday? If you did, can you e-mail a copy?

Jen said...

Oh, Amy totally rocked the hula hoop. ; -)

Amy C said...

HAHA, Jen! Yes, I did get a picture of the cover model :). I was going to post more about it tomorrow. This one would have been pretty long and I got tired. I certainly can send you the picture!

Jen said...

Seee, I told you I'd leave a comment the next time I came out here. ; -)

Hi Amy!

Great blogs! I loved all three you've posted and they were like reliving the wonderful weekend we all enjoyed.

And you're right - I was so excited to see you! It made my evening to glance up and see you standing there. I, too, wish we'd had more time, but it was so nice to sit and chat with you and your mom for the time we did have. Please tell her hi for me.

I have a surprise for you, something extra-extra special to make up for not having as much time as I wish we'd had together. I know your favorite book of mine is my Allie Mackay book, Highlander In Her Dreams. It's my personal favorite, too, as you know.

Sooo ... as that story is set on the Isle of Skye, I am going to send you a really beautiful stone from Skye.

It's one of the most lovely stones I've ever picked up over there and I'm sending it as a good luck charm for you. And so you can hold a piece of the Highlands in your hand. The stone is about palm-sized and reddish-brown with a creamy caramel-colored 'base' at one end and two narrow bands of the same caramel color circling the other end. It's sort of cylindric in shape.

I'm serious about the good luck part - the ancient Gaels believed that such banded stones were magical and brought good fortune.

You can use it as a paperweight or just place it on your desk to look at and hold whenever the 'pull of Scotland' calls to you.

I hope you'll enjoy having it. And I hope you will go to Lori and Dianne's weekend again next year. I'll be there. And I'm going to fly in a day early and leave a day later so I'll have more special private time to spend with my readers who are there. So I sure hope you'll make it again!

For now, it was sooo much fun getting to meet you in person!

Here's a cyber hug!

Amy C said...

Oh Sue-Ellen! That is just so unbelievably kind of you! I am speechless that you would offer me something so wonderful. It is such an amazingly generous gift and I will treasure it. I know what Scotland means to you, so I know that this is a special gift you are offering me. Thank you so much! No doubt I will enjoy it. I think I will set it on my table by my reading chair :D.

Hugs to you, Sue-Ellen!

And I do hope to make it to Lori's again next year with my mom.

Oh Amy it sounds like you had a wonderful time! I love the pictures and your stories are fabulous!

That's so cool about the stone Sue-Ellen is sending you!!

Hi AmyC -

It was so great to meet you and your mom. Sorry to hear about the credit card incident. That's always so scary to discover it's missing. Jen is right - you really rocked that hula hoop. My hat's off to you :-)
