Vivian Arend - Tidal Wave Review and GiveAway!

Coming July 21 from Samhain Publishing

Forces of Nature, Book 1

By Vivian Arend

From her first kiss to her first sight of dolphins dancing on the waves, Alexia Colten has always held a special place in her heart for Jaffrey’s Cove. Now that she’s back to help her grandmother settle into a home, she discovers this place has lost none of its remembered magic. In fact, it seems more magical than before—and more erotic.

After she’s gifted with a beautiful, dolphin-etched medallion, she finds herself surrounded by the golden boys of summers past. Her body is filled with longings she can’t explain and dreams of blue lights that turn into lovers.

Joshua Marley and his cousin Anthony are merfolk, a people capable of living beneath the waves as either dolphin or human. Alexia holds the medallion that marks her as the next in line to lead their people—if she can prove she can transform. Working in tandem, they’re sure they can arouse her passion and protect her from those who would use her simply to gain power.

But their strength alone may not be enough to help her face the challenge of her new position…

Warning: This title contains a conniving granny, naked men in the surf and shifters who take fun in the water to new depths. Snorkels not required.

I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Vivian Arend at Lori Foster's Get Together in June. Super nice lady, and she's not mad at me that I kinda knocked her out of the hula hoop contest :P! She's such a good sport...unlike me *evil grin*!

Anyway, she offered me a copy of Tidal Wave to read and review a few weeks ago. Of course, I had to say yes, since I really enjoyed reading her first published novella, Wolf Signs!

The blurb does a nice job of with the the plot, so I feel like I'd be repeating what you already know if I do any summarizing. Let me say that Vivian will make you look at dolphins in a whole new light. When you see one of those awesome creatures, you'll be left wondering if they are really some of the tastiest morsels of man-flesh around!

Tidal Wave is a novella, so the plot moves rather quickly, making you not want to put it down until the very end. The scenes between Anthony, Joshua and Alexia, are pretty darn smokin hot. There's one scene that almost made me wish it were just a romance between Anthony and Alexia. Anthony is just so terribly sweet and gentle. But then when Joshua is back in the mix, you want him to have his happy ever after with Alexia also. So what better way than to have them all have one...together!

I don't do menages often, but I really enjoyed this one. And I liked that the shape shifters were dolphins! That's a new one for me. And new is always good and refreshing. So if you like menages, I'd say pick this one up!

Lovely synopsis and post Amy!

Thank you to you and Ms. Arend for the giveaway! It so great you were able to meet at the Lori Foster event!

I do enjoy menage themed stories and like fast paced novellas so "Tidal Wave", sounds like a book for me!

I hope you enjoyed "Harry Potter".

Hi Amy,
Hm...did you get spammed there on top. Oh no.

Anyway great post, and yay download. I am a but curious now about those dolphins.

And to something that has nothing to do with the book, I am going to see HP6 tonight, yay

Blodeuedd, I did get spammed! Damn assholes don't have anything better to do than sit around and figure out ways to mess up your stuff! It's so frustrating. I'm not sure if it did anything, but you and Amanda's comments showed up in my inbox twice. I don't know if that is a result of the spammer or not. I did add the word verification back to comments.

Hi Amy!

I so screwed up my last comment, I had to delete it, I cannot type today, every other letter, I have to backspace and fix! Not enough sleep!

Tidal Wave sounds too good, please enter me! (kind of scared to post anything if I have to do it one letter at a time!)

I can't wait to see Harry Potter, I tried to go to the midnight showing Tuesday, but it was all sold out. But the kids have practice every evening but until Friday, so I have to wait :( I'd go by myself, but I'm a movie goer who likes to share and see the reactions of others, strangers don't like to share as much as my kids lol!

We'll be going either Friday evening or Saturday afternoon, depending on if my hubs can get away or not. I have so been looking forward to it. I was heart broken when they moved the release date back, had a feeling it would happen because of the writer's strike.

Star Trek was my other must see movie and it was freaking great, I hope this one is as good as I want it to be.

Thanks Amanda for leaving us with HP envy, I really want to see it!!

It sounds great Amy! And I loved Wolf Signs - a lot! Definitely put me in the running for the download, please. But if I don't win I'll be buying it that day to take on vacation with me! :)

Nice review. Like you, I'm not much of a menage reader, but this sounds like one I would enjoy.

Pamk said...

I have this one on my wish list. It sounds fantastic.

Viv Arend said...

Stopping in for a minute to thank Amy for her review- I'm glad she enjoyed it, even if menages aren't her first choice.

It was supposed to be a nice little romance between Alexia and Joshua, but when you meet Anthony, you'll understand. He's just too perfect with Alexia to let him go. But Joshua...

See? I still can't choose!

(I have to add I'm excited to see the new Harry Potter as well. We've been watching our way through the entire series in anticipation!)

All the best ladies.

I loved WOLF SIGNS and didn't know about your book at Nobel Romance!

Reading about FORCES OF NATURE is so unique. I don't think I ever read anything like this, and love these unique romance. I love the warnings at Samhain and this one is LOL.

I'd love to be in the contest for the download of this upcoming book! Thanks!

I really enjoyed Wolf Signs and have been looking forward to the next in that series. Tidal Wave sounds interesting!

I'll be going to HP, too, on Saturday for my guy's birthday. I had heard that Twilight was one reason they delayed it, but the other was that they didn't want HP to come out at the same time Daniel Radcliffe was doing Equus on Broadway. (Naked HP=bad publicity) lol I actually just googled "Daniel Radcliffe" and "Equus" and got an eyeful. omg

IDK if I'll be able to look at HP in the same way on Saturday. :-P
